Our history

Terral RiverService’s roots stretch back to 1946, when John Terral founded a small farm supply business in Lake Providence, Louisiana. That company evolved into a network of several larger businesses that included a seed company, farm supply company and a grain elevator company.

Terral RiverService, Inc. was formed in 1992 through a merger of Terral Barge Line and Great River Grain by John Terral and Tom Gattle. We have grown steadily, adding and upgrading facilities throughout the Lower Mississippi region.

Today, we are equipped to transport, handle, and store virtually any dry bulk commodity needed in the marketplace. In the future, we will grow with patience, always observing our long-standing principles of family values, superior service and wise investment.

Terral RiverService brings decades of Lower Mississippi experience with a heritage in agricultural trade.
