Brandon Miller started working for Terral RiverService, Inc. in September of 2012. Before that, he worked in construction, which is how he first became acquainted with the company.

“Terral was bringing us the rock for asphalt, and I became really interested in getting on the river,” Brandon said.

He inquired about a job and submitted an application. Within a couple of months, he was offered a job as a deckhand on the M/V Olivia C.. Then, he worked on the M/V Virginia Renee, followed by the M/V Kim King.

“I decked until 2015, and then the company sent me to Steersman school,” Brandon said. “I completed the program and got my license in 2016.” Brandon now serves as a Pilot on the M/V Kim King.

Brandon said the best part of working for Terral is the family-oriented culture of the company.

“I can walk into the office at any time and everyone knows my name and will stop and have a conversation with me,” he said. “If you need anything, they’ll do their best to help get you what you need. If something’s wrong, they’ll try to help. Everyone knows who you are and what you do—they treat you like family.”
